Today, Monday 1st July, MedFoto has made public the finalist images of the fourth edition of its International Photography Contest of the Mediterranean. The 36 photographs and the three photographic stories chosen by the jury of the competition co-organised by the Fundació Alive and the Club Nàutic L’Escala have been published in the MedFoto Instagram account @medfotocontest.

This marks the start of the voting process on the same social network, which will reveal the winner of the MedFoto Popular Vote prize, worth €200 in cash. This will go to the image that receives the most “Likes” during a voting period that will last until 10 July.

This year, the jury, made up of six experts in the fields of photography and the marine environment, reviewed nearly 1,400 entries from Spain, Andorra, Croatia, Cyprus, France, Italy and Ukraine, with the number of participants increasing by 11%.

The overall winner of the fourth edition of the competition, as well as the winning images in the different categories and special awards will be unveiled at the trophy ceremony to be celebrated on Saturday 27 July. The event will be held at the Club Nàutic L’Escala and will serve to inaugurate the exhibition of the finalist photographs of this year’s 2024. The exhibition can be visited in the Board Room of the L’Escala’s club until 8 September.

This year, the MedFoto International Photography Contest on the theme of “The Sea and People” will distribute nearly 4,000 euros in cash prizes among the winning entries and two special awards. The best image taken within the geographical boundaries of the Costa Brava will win a weekend in a bungalow for four people at the Camping La Ballena Alegre. The winner of the L’Escala division will win a very special experience in L’Escala for two people, including a hotel night with breakfast, lunch or dinner and a visit to the Anchovy and Salt Museum or the Alfolí de la Sal – Museu de l’Escala.
