The MedFoto competition will award prizes totaling around € 4,000 in cash to the best image in the competition, the winning images in each of the categories and the special prizes. The photograph with the most popular support will receive a special prize. The best photographs of each of the categories will be exhibited during the summer of 2021 at the Club Nàutic l’Escala. The jury will be responsible for selecting the finalist images and the winners of each of the categories and special prizes, except for the special prize for the Popular Vote which will be awarded to the photograph that gets the most “likes” on the same competition’s Instagram account.

Biologist and naturalist. He has worked mostly with birds, odonates and marine fauna. He is the Managing Director of the Alive Foundation (Fundació Alive), where he has created the Sealife Collection at iNaturalist and the Gram Project for monitoring Cymodocea nodosa in the Bay of Roses, among others.

He is an avid traveller and photographer and has a special interest in passing on knowledge and experiences that allow us to reconcile the use and enjoyment of nature in a more sustainable world.

Girona and Empordà. An industrial mechanic by trade, looking for logic above all else.

In love with the sea and the mountains, skier and sailor. Defender of nature.


Biologist and member of Fundació Alive. He led the conservation campaign for Castell beach in Palamós. Since then, he has dedicated his entire professional life to the protection and management of the environment in his hometown of Palamós, where he is currently the Technical Manager.

He is an enthusiastic scuba diver, photographer and passionate naturalist and spends as much time as possible exploring nature in his immediate surroundings and everywhere he travels.

Marine biologist, scuba diver and professional photographer. He has worked for National Geographic for years, becoming one of its graphic reporters specialising in the underwater environment.

Marine biologist specialising in audio-visual scientific communication. She has made nature documentaries with National Geographic TV & Film in Washington D.C., with the Portuguese public television RTP in Lisbon and with the CSIC in Catalonia.

She has worked as a screenwriter for the TVE and Leonart Network programme.

As a photographer she covered the Barcelona World Race in 2007 and since then has been working freelance on national and international sailing regattas.

Professional photographer linked to the world of nature conservation. His work deals with endangered species and natural and cultural heritage of remote areas of the planet.

His is the author of a dozen books and has participated in numerous radio and television programmes.

His photographs and articles have been published in magazines such as National Geographic, BBC Wildlife, Terre Sauvage, GEO, Lonely Planet, etc. He has served as a juror on various national and international competitions.
