The 4th edition of MedFoto is a success: thank you very much!
Yesterday, Wednesday 15th May, submission closed for MedFoto 2024, the international photo contest co-organised by the Alive Foundation and the Club Nàutic L’Escala.
This year we received nearly 1,400 submissions from Spain, Andorra, Croatia, Cyprus, France, Italy and Ukraine and participation has grown by 11%.
We can only thank all of you who have sent us your best photographs of the Mediterranean!
Your contributions help to spread awareness of the richness and fragility of the Mediterranean, as well as its vital role in the development of human life around it. They are therefore of great value in making the fundamental mission of MedFoto a reality.
What’s next?
The deadline for entries closes today, Thursday 16 May, and the jury’s selection process begins. The aim: to publish the finalist images on 1 July!
The decision will be made by a jury of experts in the world of photography and the marine environment made up of Ugo Mellone, Isabel Díez, Marco Marco, Laura Carrau, Oriol Alamany and Xavier Salvador.
The finalist photographs will be announced through the web gallery and also on the Instagram account @medfotocontest, where the popular voting period will begin. The image that receives the most ‘Likes’ by 10 July, the closing date for voting, will be the winner of the Popular Voting prize, worth €200.
The most eagerly awaited moment
The rest of the winners will be unveiled during the awards ceremony to be held at the Club Nàutic L’Escala on 27 July, which will also serve to inaugurate the exhibition of the MedFoto 2024 finalists. The exhibition will be available to be visited in the Club’s Boardroom until 8 September.
Once again this year, MedFoto will distribute up to 4,000 euros in cash prizes among the overall winning entries and in the different categories, as well as two special prizes. The best image taken within the photographic boundaries of the Costa Brava will win a weekend in a bungalow at the Camping la Ballena Alegre for four people. The winner of the L’Escala division will win a very special experience in L’Escala for two people, including a hotel night with breakfast, lunch or dinner and a visit to the Anchovy and Salt Museum or the Alfolí de la Sal – Museu de l’Escala.
