A collaborative project
Club Nàutic l’Escala and Fundació Alive are the promoters of MedFoto, the first International Photography Contest of the Mediterranean. The contest is the result of the commitment between the two entities to create a photographic contest with the aim of spreading the environmental and human values of the Mediterranean Sea.
The City Council of l’Escala gives its support to the project within the framework of its constant effort to disseminate values and local environments, as a tool to improve the quality of life of citizens.
A sea of values
The sea and the Mediterranean Sea have been closely linked to the fishing village of L’Escala since its origins. In fact, the Greeks landed in the Iberian Peninsula from Empúries, where their remains remind us every day of the importance of preserving its historical and cultural legacy of which the sea is one of its main backbones.
This sea is, therefore, very rich in values. It is culture and history; a means of work and recreation and the habitat of thousands of species of animals and plants that make up its very special landscape. Values that must coexist for the present and for future generations and that we can only preserve by enjoying and working at sea in a sustainable way.
