From the Fundació Alive and the Club Nàutic l’Escala, organizers of the MedFoto, we are very happy to announce that today the second edition of the international Mediterranean photography contest has begun with the publication of the rules.

MedFoto, the international Mediterranean photography contest organized by the Fundació Alive and the Club Nàutic l’Escala, returns with the aim of reaching both amateurs and professionals of photography, who may submit up to 15 photographs each distributed in any of the seven proposed categories.
Up to nearly 4,000 euros in cash prizes that will be distributed among the winning photographs of each division and four very special prizes. On the one hand, a sailing excursion along the Costa Brava that will get the winning image of the Popular Vote category. This will be the one that gets the most likes on the contest’s Instagram account.
On the other hand, the new award that will go to the winner of the most attractive photograph taken within the geographical limits of the Costa Brava, consisting of a weekend in a bungalow at Camping la Ballena Alegre for 4 people.
The winner of the L’Escala category will live a very special experience in L’Escala for two people, which includes a night and breakfast in a hotel, lunch or dinner and a visit to the Anchovy and Salt Museum or in the Alfolí de la Sal – Museum of l’Escala.
Finally, the author under the age of 16 who presents the best photograph according to the jury will win a course in dinghy sailing, cruising or coastal rowing at the Club Nàutic l’Escala.
The categories are seven again but there are novelties in two of them, which are expanded to better reflect the reality of their dimension. This is the case of the Sports division, which is now called Sports and Leisure to also integrate the leisure activities that take place around the coastal and marine environment. Also in the Conservation one, now Conservation and Climate Change with the intention of collecting images that reflect the effects of this phenomenon.
MedFoto will feature a jury of experts in the world of photography and marine environment such as Oriol Alamany, Josep Pallí and Laura Carrau, the naturalist and photographer Bernat Garrigós and the biologist Josep Vilanova. This year, Xavier Salvador, winner of MedFoto 2021, also joins.
The winners will be announced on August 5 at an event that will take place at the Club Nàutic l’Escala wich will inaugurate the exhibition of the 43 finalist images at the sports association’s facilities. The exhibition will be available until September 4.
