The MedFoto International Mediterranean Photography Contest, promoted by Club Nàutic l’Escala and the Alive Foundation, has published the participation rules for its 2026 edition, which will be open from April 1st to May 15th through the contest’s official website. MedFoto maintains its commitment to promoting and preserving the marine natural heritage through photography, strengthening its role as a meeting point for both amateur and professional photographers with an interest in the Mediterranean.

A Respectful and inspiring look at the mediterranean sea

According to the official rules, the contest seeks innovative and inspiring photographs that document marine diversity and the many relationships between people and the sea. All images must be taken with respect for people, animals, plants, and the natural environment. The contest remains open to participants of any nationality, whether amateur or professional.

Registrations: deadlines and requirements

Registrations can be completed through www.medfoto.org between April 1st and May 15th, 2026. The fee is €15 and allows up to fifteen photographic submissions across any category. All information and communications will be published on the contest’s official website.

2026 Contest Categories

Photographs must be taken exclusively in the Mediterranean Sea and its immediate surroundings. The categories that have been central in previous editions remain:

  • Landscape – coastal and sea-surface views.
  • Wildlife – fauna and flora in their natural habitat.
  • Sports and leisure – nautical and recreational activities linked to the sea.

The contest continues to encourage participants to capture the Mediterranean from multiple perspectives: natural environment, human activity, conservation, and coexistence.

Continuity and projection of MedFoto

The year 2026 marks the contest’s fifth edition, which has ensured its continuity through 2027 thanks to the renewed agreement between Club Nàutic l’Escala and the Alive Foundation.
