The Dangerous Journey of the Sea Turtles

Author: Şebnem Coşkun
Description: After laying about ten eggs, brood turtles enter a trance-like state. During this time, veterinarians and volunteers from the Sea Turtle Research, Rescue and Rehabilitation Center tag the Caretta caretta’s fin to track the country and beach where it nested, while collecting data such as tissue samples and shell measurements. This species, which has existed for 110 million years and has long guided people with its migratory path, remains endangered due to increasing environmental pollution despite all conservation efforts. Volunteers and veterinarians work under red light, as its wavelength does not affect sea turtles.
