MedFoto opens a new category in its third edition
Today, Wednesday, February 1, the rules of MedFoto 2023 have been published. Thus begins the third edition of the first international photography contest of the Mediterranean, which opens a new category.
The contest organized by the Alive Foundation and the Club Nàutic L’Escala will offer a new prize this year. Under the title of Story, will recognize the best photography work made up of six images dedicated to one of the proposed themes.
This category is added to those of Landscape, Wildlife, Sports and Leisure, Marine Trades, Underwater, Conservation and Climate Change and With Mobile Phone, the latter intended solely for photographs taken with a mobile phone. It is, once again, an open contest in terms of subject matter, but also in terms of participation, since it is aimed at both professional and amateur photographers. All of them will be able to present their proposals between April 1 and May 15, being eligible for the prizes of the contest.
This 2023, MedFoto will distribute close to 4,000 euros in cash prizes among the winners, in addition to four special prizes that will recognize the author under 16 years of age, the best photographs taken within the limits of the Costa Brava and L’Escala and the finalist image that obtains the most “Likes” on the Instagram account of the contest in the Popular Vote division.
The decision will fall to a jury of experts in the world of photography and the marine environment that this year is renewed with the additions of the naturalist photographer Pere Soler and the winner of the MedFoto 2022 Xavier Martínez. The jury is completed by Josep Vilanova, Laura Carrau and Oriol Alamany.
To find out the winning images, we will have to wait for the prize-giving ceremony, which will take place at the Club Nàutic l’Escala, which will inaugurate the exhibition of the finalist photographs at the sports association’s facilities. The exhibition will be open to be visited until September 5th.
