The MedFoto contest will award prizes totaling nearly €4,000 in cash and experiences:

  • Best image of the contest – absolute prize of €1,000.
  • Winning images in each of the 8 categories – €300 per category.
  • Three special prizes:
    • Costa Brava – weekend stay in a bungalow at Camping La Ballena Alegre.
    • L’Escala – cultural and gastronomic experience for two people.
    • Natura Còmica – a selection of Empordà products, one hotel night and an annual membership.

The best photographs will be exhibited during the summer of 2026 at the facilities of Club Nàutic L’Escala.

Professional photographer linked to the world of nature conservation. His work deals with endangered species and natural and cultural heritage of remote areas of the planet.

His is the author of a dozen books and has participated in numerous radio and television programmes.

His photographs and articles have been published in magazines such as National Geographic, BBC Wildlife, Terre Sauvage, GEO, Lonely Planet, etc. He has served as a juror on various national and international competitions.

Adriana Olsina Mora is a nature photographer specializing in landscape and close-up reportage. Her work, published in books such as “The Voices of the Trees” and “Explore the Gardens and Live the Trees,” seeks to capture the essence of nature and raise awareness about environmental conservation.

Olsina has over 15 years of experience as an image creation teacher, mainly at the Institute of Photographic Studies of Catalonia (IEFC). She also collaborates as a photographer for the magazine Descobrir Catalunya and as a trainer at the Centre Excursionista de Catalunya (CEC).

Currently, she works as an environmental educator at the Comarcal Council of La Litera (Huesca), where she promotes ecological awareness in the community. Her work combines a passion for nature with education and visual dissemination.

Biologist and naturalist, he loves to photograph marine life while freediving or diving, always looking for unseen species, and highlighting the richness of places that, a priori, may not be attractive.

Photosub apnea and Underwater Photography with bottles competitor, champion of the first World Cup in pairs of Photosub, champion of Spain in 2016 and champion of Catalonia from 2016 to 2021.

Absolute winner of MedFoto 2021.

Author of two photography books, one about fish and another about nudibranchs (with a guide with 247 species, the most complete in Spanish).

Marine biologist specialising in audio-visual scientific communication. She has made nature documentaries with National Geographic TV & Film in Washington D.C., with the Portuguese public television RTP in Lisbon and with the CSIC in Catalonia.

She has worked as a screenwriter for the TVE and Leonart Network programme.

As a photographer she covered the Barcelona World Race in 2007 and since then has been working freelance on national and international sailing regattas.

Photographer and teacher David Salcedo began and professionalized in the world of photography at the I.E.F.C.

His works cover a wide spectrum of photographic medium proposals, but two main axes clearly stand out. The first is a delicate documentary gaze, possessing both fine irony and silent mystery. The second is his obsession with working with what is close to him, either because he needs to talk about the things he knows or as a metaphor for existence.

This way of understanding his corner of the world has led him to exhibit throughout the national territory, part of Europe, and America.

He is currently represented by the London agency Millennium Images, the Alalimón gallery in Barcelona, the Saisho Art gallery in Madrid, and is about to publish with Ediciones Possibles.

Ugo Mellone was born in Southern Italy and has been living in Spain since 2008. After completing a Ph.D. studying the migration of the Eleonora’s falcon and other birds of prey, he works as a freelance photographer specializing in nature and conservation.

Mellone has undertaken projects across the entire Mediterranean basin, as well as in the Sahara and Patagonia. His work, funded by grants from the National Geographic Society and MontPhoto, has been published in magazines such as National Geographic, GEO, and BBC Wildlife.

He’s the author of three photographic books and a co-founder of The Wild Line collective. He’s been awarded in the Wildlife Photographer of the Year competition and frequently collaborates in nature documentary productions.

Marc Casanovas, winner of MedFoto 2025, joins the jury of this edition.

A professional underwater photographer with over 25 years dedicated to the Mediterranean, Casanovas combines demanding dives with a constant search for new species and marine behaviours. His work has been recognised in international competitions in Spain, Germany, the United Kingdom, Italy, France, Russia and Israel, among others. His technical and profoundly attentive vision of the underwater world brings great value to the evaluation of the MedFoto 2026 images.
